Medilaw is a group of expert medico-legal specialists, providing completely independent and impartial assessments to the insurance industry, solicitors and government bodies.

Our role is very specific – it is to assess the current status and treatment of your medical condition and then provide a written opinion to the person who referred you. Your consent is always sought prior to assessment.

Medilaw is not in a position to provide you with guidance or actual treatment for your condition – this is best done by your treating medical practitioners.

It is important to us that your experience with Medilaw is a positive one.

What to Expect:

  • You should allow one hour for your appointment.
  • Prior to seeing you, the medical specialist will review the existing information and reports that have been provided by the referring agency.
  • You will then have a face to face consultation with the assessing specialist. The consultation will usually commence with an interview with questions about the history of your condition and some more general questions about your domestic, recreational and employment history.
  • A physical examination may also be required depending upon the nature of your condition.
  • Gowns are provided and female clients may have an adult companion with them during the examination, or they may request the presence of a female member of the Medilaw staff.
  • Assessments vary in length depending upon individual circumstances, however many average 30 to 45 mins.
  • You are then free to depart and the specialist will prepare their report.
