Associate Professor (Dr) Christian Rowan gained his medical degree (MBBS) from the University of Queensland. He is a Specialist Physician in Addiction & Pain Management. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians’ Chapter of Addiction Medicine, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, the Australian College of Rural & Remote Medicine and the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators.

Associate Professor (Dr) Rowan is a member of the Australian Professional Society on Alcohol and Other Drugs. Associate Professor Peter Steadman gained his medical degree from the University of Queensland in 1986. He undertook and completed his orthopaedic training in Queensland, becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 1995 and a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association in 2000.

He has been appointed as an Associate Professor in Orthopaedics of the University of Queensland from March 2008. Professor Steadman is registered in Queensland and NSW and practises in orthopaedic surgery. His additional experience includes 10 months as a Visiting Fellow to the Mayo Clinic (USA).From 1998 to 2000, he was the Director of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. He is currently in private practice in Brisbane, and a Visiting Specialist at both the Princess Alexandra Hospital and the Royal Brisbane and Children's Hospital. He has been the Bone and Joint Decade Chairman in Queensland and is a Senior Medical Officer with Queensland Health. He is a Federal Director of the Australian Orthopaedic Association's governing board and Secretary of the Queensland branch and the National Secretary of the Australian Sarcoma Group. Professor Steadman has presented on medical assessment issues at several legal seminars for the Queensland Law Society, LexisNexis Butterworths and the Australian Insurance Law Association. He has advised on the Queensland CTP legislation medical issues to Justice Thomas, and the Law Council of Australia on Comcare medical issues. On numerous occasions, Professor Steadman has been required to stand as an expert witness at court, presenting unbiased Evidenced based material evidence.

Dr Bert Boffa has been a vocationally registered GP of 30 years’ standing with 15 years’ experience in public hospital administration and 18 years’ experience in private health insurance. Dr Boffa obtained his MBBS through the University of Melbourne in 1980 and his MBA at Monash University in 1992. He became a Fellow of the Australian College Health Service Executives in 1994. In July 2013, Dr Boffa completed his training and was admitted as a specialist Occupational Physician (FAFOEM).

He is also a knowledgeable independent medical examiner and is highly experienced across the AMA guides. He conducts works site visits to track progress and aid return to work for injured workers. Dr Boffa has participated in the Return to Work and Motor Accident Commission accreditation for South Australia to conduct permanent impairment assessments. He is also accredited to conduct WorkSafe Victoria assessments.

Dr Boffa is also engaged in research and education, with a wide range of research interests that have resulted in a number of publications in International medical journals. Academic development and mentoring is also very important to Dr Boffa, through his separate academic appointments at Monash and Adelaide Universities.

Dr Adam Skidmore Upper Gastrointestinal and General Surgeon Melbourne

Dr Skidmore has extensive experience in upper gastrointestinal tract surgery and surgery for obesity. He attended Melbourne Boys High School before going to the University of Melbourne obtaining his medical degree.
After medical school, he trained at the Austin hospital in General Surgery before travelling to the UK and further training with Shaw Somers, a world renowned upper gastrointestinal and obesity surgeon. Shaw was the star of the Discovery Channel documentary, The Fat Doctor.
After returning to Australia in 2007, he has established a practice that specialises in diseases of the oesophagus, stomach, gallbladder and obesity. He has also performed a large number of keyhole hernia repairs. He is a mentor for a number of surgeons for the sleeve gastrectomy operation and also the keyhole hernia operation.
Currently he is studying for his MBA at the University of Melbourne. He continues to present papers and lectures to both students and other doctors. He is currently completing a major review on Barrett’s oesophagus.

Dr Alan Hilton is a Consultant Ophthalmologist as well as an Independent Medical Examiner with the Medico-Legal Consultants of Australia. He gained Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1970 and Fellowship of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists in 1978.
