Neurosurgeon

Neurosurgeons have sub-specialised in surgery of the brain, spinal cord and other nervous tissue. Examination includes tests for muscle function, reflexes, sensation and coordination as well as personal/medical history and overall physical examination.

  • When surgery is required and has occurred for injuries to the head and brain, neck, back and spinal cord and/or peripheral nerves 
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome 
  • Brain tumours and malformations
  • Multiple sclerosis, migraines, epilepsy, stroke 
  • Cervical disc prolapse 
  • Thoracic disc prolapse
  • Lumbar disc prolapse
  • Spinal fractures
  • Degenerative conditions, eg muscular dystrophy and motor neurone disease 
  • Organic brain injuries (stroke, trauma)
