Orthopaedic Surgeon |
Orthopaedic surgeons are experts in the diagnosis and assessment of bones, joints, muscular and/or ligamentous injuries or diseases including those relating to the neck, back, chest, pelvis, hips or limbs; especially where surgical management may be considered. They may perform surgery to repair traumatic fractures or replace damaged joints. They may repair or reattach soft tissue support structures, eg cartilage, ligament and bursa. Some orthopaedic surgeons specialise in one region of the body, eg upper limb, lower limb or spine. All are trained in treatment of all musculoskeletal disorders.
