Dr Rowan gained his medical degree from the University of Queensland in 1996. Dr Rowan is a Specialist Physician in Addiction Medicine & Pain Management. He has completed Fellowships of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians’ Chapter of Addiction Medicine as well as the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and the Australian College of Rural & Remote Medicine. He is a member of the Australian Professional Society on Alcohol and Other Drugs and is a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Public Health and the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators.

Dr Rowan is currently employed as the Deputy Executive Director of Medical Services in Queensland Health’s Office of Rural & Remote Health (Policy, Strategy & Resourcing Division). He is a Visiting Medical Officer at the Wesley Hospital’s Rehabilitation Centre – Pain Management & Back Rehabilitation Programs. He also has private rooms located in the Wesley Medical Centre. Dr Rowan has previously completed reports for the Queensland Government’s Drug Court Program. He is a licensed methadone, subutex and suboxone prescriber.
