Occupational Physician

Identifies, manages and prevents acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders and their associated disabilities and deternine when such conditions are work-related. Conditions commonly assessed include spine disorders, including low back pain, joint and extremity injuries and disorders, and chronic pain syndromes. Occupational physicians are skilled at managing fitness for duty issues.

    Chris Oates practises in occupational medicine and has completed impairment training with the Motor Accidents Authority NSW, WorkCover NSW and Comcare. Dr Oates can assess all musculoskeletal injuries including back, neck, upper & lower limbs, bony or soft tissue. He is able to assess occupational illnesses including asthma, lung disease, occupational cancers, overuse injuries and work related conflict.

    Dr Oates gained his medical degree from the University of Queensland and completed a Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety at the University of Sydney. He is a Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Occupational Medicine and a Fellow of the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians. He has CIME accreditation.

    Dr Mary Wyatt has been registered as a practicing occupational physician since 1998. She is a Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Occupational Medicine and a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians.

    Dr Wyatt can assess all musculoskeletal injuries including back, neck, upper & lower limbs, bony or soft tissue. She is able to assess occupational illnesses including asthma, lung disease, occupational cancers, overuse injuries and work related conflict. Dr Wyatt has a very strong interest in rehabilitation and has conducted extensive research in injury and illness in the workplace.

    Nicholas Burke gained his medical degree from the University of Tasmania in 1978. He completed the Masters of Public Health (Occupational Medicine) at the University of Sydney in 1994, becoming a Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Occupational Medicine in 1995. He has CIME accreditation.

    Dr Burke is registered in Queensland and practises in occupational medicine. He is currently a consultant to major companies such as Telstra, Shell, BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto. Dr Burke has a special interest in toxicology, musculoskeletal medicine and rehabilitation.
