Neuropsychologist

A neuropsychologist is a psychologist who has completed PhD studies in this specialist area. They specialise in assessing and describing changes in physical or cognitive function after organic brain injury (eg stroke, MVA, toxicity) addressing issues such as personality changes, loss of memory, and loss of speech or comprehension skills after an accident or injury. Examinations include an extensive series of personality, competency and mental function tests in addition to a full patient history, and can take up to four hours to complete.
