Summary

Associate Professor (Dr) Christian Rowan gained his medical degree (MBBS) from the University of Queensland. He is a Specialist Physician in Addiction Medicine & Pain Management. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians’ Chapter of Addiction Medicine, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, the Australian College of Rural & Remote Medicine and the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators.

Associate Professor (Dr) Rowan is a member of the Australian Professional Society on Alcohol and Other Drugs. He is a former Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Uniting Care Heath and a former Director of Medical Services at St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital. He is currently an accredited Visiting Medical Officer at St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital and the Wesley Hospital.

Associate Professor (Dr) Rowan has previously completed reports for the Queensland Government’s Drug Court Program. He is a licensed methadone, subutex and suboxone prescriber. His clinical interests include prescription drug dependency, opioid substitution therapy and co-morbidity pertaining to pain conditions and substance disorders. Dr Rowan is an Associate Professor at Griffith University School of Medicine. He is a Clinical Tutor with the Uniting Care Clinical School. He is a former President of AMA Queensland and he has been an elected member of the Board and Branch Council of the Australian Medical Association of Queensland. Dr Rowan is also a former President of the Rural Doctors Association of Queensland.
