Summary
Martin Allan has worked in the field of psychiatry for almost two decades. His career has encompassed public and private psychiatry in rural and metropolitan areas of NSW, and his areas of interest have included acute and complex psychotic disorders, personality disorders, adjustment and depressive illnesses, Perinatal psychiatry through his role at Fertility Psych, and throughout his career, trauma and related disorders.
In recent years Martin has held the role of Clinical Lead of the MindSense brand, and continues to promote knowledge and practice in the sector through participation in webinars and mentoring of Psychiatrists who are new to the field. Martin has an exceptional knowledge and level of experience in the fields of occupational and medico-legal psychiatry.
He has worked with the Medilaw group for over a decade now, and has become well known in the field, having completed countless workcover, motor accident, fitness for duty, PIC, medical negligence and other matters, and in recent years has predominantly worked in the National Redress Scheme area, performing hundreds of assessments of applicants to the scheme.
Originally from Scotland and based in Sydney for two decades, Martin is a keen football fan and marathoner and is a keen advocate in his clinical practice of incorporating physical activity and lifestyle management therapies into mainstream therapeutic approaches.
